Junyi Liu Appointed Assistant Professor at Tsinghua University

Junyi LiuFormer doctoral graduate and then postdoctoral researcher in the Daniel J. Epstein Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, Junyi Liu has been appointed to an assistant professor position in the Industrial Engineering Department at Tsinghua University.

Liu’s research specialization lies in the intersection of stochastic programming, statistics, and machine learning, with the focus on nonconvex and nonsmooth stochastic optimization, with applications in inventory management, revenue management, risk management and power system planning.

Liu was previously a postdoctoral researcher at USC Viterbi, working with Epstein Family Chair and professor of industrial and systems engineering, Jong-Shi Pang from Sep 2019 to March 2021.

Liu completed her Ph.D. degree in 2019 at USC, supervised by professor of industrial and systems engineering, Suvrajeet Sen. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in 2015 majoring in statistics, at the School of Gifted Young at the University of Science and Technology of China.
