Biography

Camilo Hernández received his B.S. in Mathematics and B.S. in Economics from Universidad de Los Andes in Colombia in 2013 and an M.S. in Mathematics in 2015 from the same institution. He obtained his Ph.D. in 2021 from Columbia University's IEOR department, where he was a Cheung–Kong innovation fellow. In 2021, Dr. Hernández was a Chapman Fellow in Mathematics at Imperial College London, and from 2022 to 2024, he was a Presidential Fellow at Princeton University's ORFE department. Since 2024, he has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Southern California. The overarching theme of Dr. Hernández's work is the theory and applications of optimal stochastic control in continuous time.

Research Summary

Dr. Hernández's research interests include contract theory, game theory, time inconsistency, financial mathematics, control theory, backward stochastic differential equations, and convex optimization.
