Ketan Savla, John and Dorothy Shea Early Career Chair in Civil Engineering and Associate Professor at the USC Viterbi School of Engineering, has been awarded the 2024 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)– Intelligent Transportation Systems Society (ITSS) Outstanding Application Award. Savla holds a joint appointment in the Daniel J. Epstein Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering.
The award recognizes Savla’s groundbreaking work in developing and road testing a high-performance next generation traffic signal control system algorithm. The IEEE ITS Outstanding Application Award was presented to Savla at the IEEE ITSC 2024 conference in Edmonton, Canada during September.
Savla also holds joint appointments the Sonny Astani Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Ming Hsieh Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. His expertise is in distributed robust and optimal control, dynamical networks, state-dependent queuing systems, and incentive design, with applications in infrastructure systems and robotics.
