Can I work part-time on my degree while staying employed?

Undergraduate students are allowed to work on campus no more than 20 hours/week. However, it should be noted that the ISE undergraduate programs are geared towards full-time students.

Students in the graduate programs can work off-campus full-time. The EMT program is especially geared for the full-time employee going to school part-time. Courses in the EMT program are offered in the evening. Students in the PhD program are expected to pursue the degree full-time.

How do I find a job?

Current students can utilize the Viterbi School Job Resource Center. They target current college students, recent grads, and recent alumni. Their mission is to match employers with the most qualified college graduates and to help students obtain job interviews, full time jobs, and internships. In addition, the USC Career Planning & Placement Center is available to assist with job search strategies, resume feedback, internship opportunities, and interview preparation.

How do I obtain curricular practical training?

Many international students obtain internships through the curricular practical training period. There is a 9 month waiting period after arrival in the United States. Please contact the Office of Masters and Professional Programs for detailed information..
